Reykjanes, Privately Operated
Reykjanes is the youngest landscape in Iceland and, since 2021, one of the most talked-about places on Earth: a series of eruptions has been reshaping the peninsula in real time. It is also the first thing arriving guests see from the plane — a black lava plain steaming at the edges — and most visitors drive straight through it.
This is a compact, five-hour tour, which makes it ideal for an arrival or departure day, or as a half-day combined with the Blue Lagoon. The whole peninsula is a UNESCO Global Geopark, and the distances between hissing mud pools, sea cliffs and craters are short.

The Journey
Typical stops. We never run a fixed route: the stops, their order and the timings are agreed with you for each programme and adjusted on the day for weather and road conditions.
Bridge Between Continents
A footbridge across a sand-floored rift where the North American and Eurasian plates drift apart at about two centimetres a year. It is the simplest, clearest place in Iceland to understand why the island exists at all.
Gunnuhver and the Reykjanes lighthouse
Iceland's largest mud pool boils and roars beneath a permanent cloud of steam, named for a vengeful ghost said to have been trapped in the spring. A minute away, the lighthouse looks over the Valahnúkur sea cliffs to the island of Eldey, home to one of the world's largest gannet colonies.
Brimketill
A round pool carved by the sea into the edge of a lava field, where the Atlantic surges over the rim with every wave. Folklore says a giantess used it as her bath. From the platform guests feel the whole force of the ocean a few metres away.
The eruption sites
From viewing points approved on the day, the guide shows guests the new lava fields of Fagradalsfjall and Sundhnúkur — black, steaming and in places still warm — and explains what has happened on the peninsula since 2021 and what is expected next.
Krýsuvík and Kleifarvatn
The Seltún geothermal field at Krýsuvík is a hillside painted yellow, red and grey by minerals, with boardwalks threading between bubbling springs. Beyond it lies Kleifarvatn, a deep, silent lake beneath black hills where the road home begins.
